Dear parents,
Assalam Alaikum,

Did you notice the new 5th grade troop of Safety Patrol students during drop-off and dismissal? Today was their first day of duty. They received their training last week and started work today. Masha Allah, they provide a wonderful service to all Granadians. Please make sure to follow their directions.

Also please make sure to drop your children at school between 7:45 and 7:55am. Teachers open their classrooms at 7:45. Classes start promptly right after the morning announcement at 8:00am.

Wednesday, September 19 is the last day to register for Session 1 of after-school clubs. You may register in person or mail-in registration (postmarked 9/19). If a club does not meet the minimum registration number, then it will be cancelled.

This week we have 4 Fall Assemblies for K-8 students . The objective of the assemblies is to introduce students to adults beyond their regular teachers and communicate expectations for a successful and fun year, insha Allah.

Thank you for attending the Back-to-School nights last week. Let me know if you have any feedback.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Nihad Mourad
Principal

After School Clubs - Session 1 - Message from the Director of Student Activities:

After School Clubs are here! We have wonderful clubs to offer this session that can benefit your child.

Families can register for any of the clubs from Sept. 6 – Sept. 19 (Registration Form).
Families can choose to register in two different methods:

  1. Mail in the registration with payment (postmarked no later than September 19) to school.
  2. On-site registration in the GIS Lobby, starting Monday, September 10, as follows:
    • Mornings: 8:00 - 8:30am
    • After school: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:00pm and Wednesdays from 2:15-2:45pm.
    • Registration will also take place during Back-to-School nights on 9/12 and 9/13.

How will your child benefit by joining a club at GIS?

It’s an opportunity to pull your child away from spending hours in front of the TV or playing video games.  It’s an opportunity for your child to explore a new skill…their self-confidence grows.  It’s an opportunity for your child to meet people with similar interests, and make friends.  It can instill a sense of belonging, promote personal and social skills, and improve social relationships.

The GIS After School Program is developed to offer additional enrichment opportunities which support the school’s ESLRs and Mission.

You are most welcome to contact me with suggestions, questions, or comments regarding the after school program.

Take care,
Fadwa Musleh
