Reminders

Dear parents,
Assalam Alaikum. 
  • We are looking forward to see you on Monday, April 1st, for Parent-Teacher Conference Day. No school for students on this day.
  • 2013-14 regular registration deadline for continuing students is Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • The 6th, 7th and 8th grade parents are invited to attend the Award Ceremony for 6-8 on Tuesday, April 2nd at 9:30am.
  • We will have Spring Break for a week starting April 8th to April 12th.
  • MCA has a fundraising dinner this Saturday to raise funds for the purchase of the building next door. Check the MCA website for more information.

End of 2nd Trimester

Assalam Alaikum dear parents,
We are proud to announce the Granada winners at the Synopsys Championship. Mashallah out of 21 participants, nine students are receiving awards. In addition, three students are candidates to the State Science championship.

March newsletter has been uploaded to the Granada website and will be mailed today. In my message I am including some tips to prepare your students for the upcoming Stanford 10 testing in April. Please review them.

We are looking forward to see the parents at the 2nd Parent-Teacher Conference Day on Monday, April 1st. Schedules are available online. Please contact your homeroom teacher if you need to make a change. We will have Award Ceremony for grades 6-8 on Tuesday, April 2nd at 9:30am.

This Monday 3/25, we have planned spirit day activities for our students. Please have your child wear their Granada Golden Eagles t-shirt over their regular uniform. We will distribute the t-shirts that were recently ordered to the students at the end of day today. The planned activities are:
  • K-2: Drama Club presentation of "The Wizard of Oz" from 9:45-10:15
  • 3-5: Drama Club presentation of "The Wizard of Oz" from 10:45-11:15
  • 6-8: Team challenge activities from 8:45-10:15
Important Dates:
  • Continuing students 2013-14 registration deadline is Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • Our Spring break is coming up in a couple of week: April 8 to 12.

Assalam Alaikum Dear parents,

Schedules for the 2nd Parent-teacher conferences (Monday April 1st) have been posted on the GIS Website. Mark your calendar for this important opportunity  to meet your child's teachers.

Arabic Spelling Bee Awards were distributed this week to the winners.
Twenty-one students from grades 6-8 are getting ready to participate in the Annual County Science Fair, Synopsys Championship. We wish our students the best and looking forward for them to come back with many awards, insha Allah!

Finals schedule for grades 6-8 has been posted on the GIS Website. March 19-21 will be minimum days (dismissal at noon) for all students.

Today is the deadline for early registration for 2013-14. April 2nd is the regular registration deadline.

Opening at Granada

Open Position: Fundraising Manager

Details: Part Time: 20hrs/week. Salary will vary based on experience.

Responsibilities include tasks related to strategy, donors and proposals and presentations:
  • Developing fundraising strategy and setting priorities, goals and budgets;
  • Researching and identifying potential donors, cultivating potential donors
  • Executing an effective communications and outreach plan with current donors, parents and alumni i.e. newletters, updates, events, etc, preparing presentations for potential donors and/or key stakeholders
  • Identifying Grant opportunities and writing proposals to obtain grants
  • Working with fundraising committee and overseeing event planning and campaigns as needed
  • Maintaining donor databases
Education: Bachelors Degree in Communications or relevant field. Prefer Masters.

Experience: 2-3 years experience in business development, fundraising and/or Outreach, preferably in a community school/organization.
