Last Day of 2012-13

Dear parents,

Assalam Alaikum. I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of school. It was a joy to see your children grow over the year. Thank you for making us part of your family for this school year.

Today while our 6-8 grade students were taking their finals, the younger students were having a blast. First and second graders had performances, and third to fifth graders attended an assembly about reptiles. If you were at school and attended any of these events, please send me any photos that you would like to share on the Granada Facebook page.

Join us tomorrow for grades 1-5 Award Ceremony at 11:00am. We will distribute the following awards:

• Attendance Award
• Citizenship Award
• Academic Excellence Award
• Outstanding Effort Award

·      Kindergarten Diploma Ceremonies will be from 8:30 to 10:00 am, and Preschool Graduation will be at 10:00. All activities will take place in the MCA Khadijah Banquet Hall.

Assalam Alaikum! The results are in! Mashallah we raised over $9700 from the Walk-A-Thon! Thank you for your contribution. Check the Winners List. Congratulations to the top three students with highest donations:

3. Aleema Garfinkel (5B) - $510

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Lian Jeeawoody, Vice Principal, who led the Walk-a-Thon Committee. Thanks are also due to parents: Asma Garfinkel, Tsunnum Malik, Shirley Rabia, Samaa Said, and Michelle Lee for serving on the committee and planning our successful event.

Yesterday the Drama Club presented the play "Annie" to students in grades 1st to 5th. They were two performances of the play. The students did a wonderful job under the leadership of Sr. Aisha Amer, 1B Homeroom Teacher. You can see some photo of our actors on Granada Facebook page.

Next week our 6-8 grade students will have their finals. All students will be dismissed at noon on Monday and Tuesday. Dismissal on Wednesday, our last day of school, will be at 2pm. Pick-up next week will be indoor, to allow parents to pick up student's belongings from the classrooms.

On Tuesday, 1st and 2nd grade classes are inviting their parents to watch student performances in the Maryam Hall. Each performance is about half an hour, please be prompt so you don't miss it. Schedule: 1A (8:15), 1B (9:00), 1C(9:45), 2A(10:30), 2B(11:00), and 2C(11:30).

On Wednesday, we have many activities for our students including jumpers, puppet/magic show, and indoor and outdoor games. We will provide lunch to students at school: pizza or hamburger. On the same day we have the end-of-Year Celebrations:

• K Diploma Ceremony: KA(8:30), KB(9:00), KC(9:30)
• Preschool Graduation (10:00-11:00)
• Award Ceremony for grades 1-5 (11:00-12:00)
